Tim Flannery has been blessed with an amazing career prior to joining First Melissa as our Executive Pastor and COO.  Tim began his career serving our country in the U.S. Navy as a Search and Rescue helicopter-based rescue swimmer and instructor on the USS LaSalle (AGF-3) in Bahrain, and in Spain, where he met his wife, Linda.  After separating from active duty, Tim attended Rutgers University and earned his bachelor’s degree in Pre-Law while continuing to serve in a Seabee battalion in the U.S. Navy Reserves in Lakehurst, NJ.  Following graduation, Tim began his career as a corporate director.  In 2010, Tim received a presidential commission to serve once again as an intelligence officer in the U.S. Navy, where he served an additional five years. As a corporate operations executive, small business owner, and prior naval officer with decades of experience, Tim has been entrusted to lead global teams of thousands of highly-skilled employees and members for numerous Fortune 500 companies spanning the financial services, banking, investment management, technology, communications, and global support operations industries.  His passion is and has always been to provide servant leadership to his teams as he helps them to bring about the best possible outcomes for everyone involved in every situation.

Tim accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Savior at the age of 16 when a youth pastor from his church at the time asked him a simple question: “If you died tonight, would you be in heaven tomorrow?” Unable to reply affirmatively, he knelt down moments later and asked Jesus to be the Lord of his life and was baptized a few days later.  Tim has intentionally sought to honor and glorify Jesus every day since, although he often falls short.  As a result, he is most thankful for the mercy and grace God continually extends to each of us.

Tim and his wife, Linda, have three adult children – two daughters and a son.  The largest blessing Tim and Linda have received in life to date has been witnessing each of their children walk with the Lord and continue to seek to make Him known around the world.  The largest mystery in Tim and Linda’s life is how they’ve gotten so old so fast!

The Flannerys have been First Melissa members for more than 14 years and have been actively engaged as volunteers in ministry and service opportunities.  Tim is thrilled to now have the opportunity to serve the First Melissa church family on a full-time basis.
