At First Melissa, we believe that God has called us to be the hands and feet of Christ to those we know and love, as well as to a hurting world around us. This means we should live a life that demonstrates and reflects Christ’s concern for souls in our own neighborhoods, workplaces, recreation sites, country, as well as all around the world.
The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few (Matthew 9:37). The opportunities to reach out to the lost are extensive. Click on the links below to find more details about our mission partners and missions opportunities and how we endeavor to impact our community and world with Christ’s love.

First Melissa is striving to fulfill the Great Commission through our work with local and international mission partners.
Mission Partners:Vitor and Amanda Freitas
Vitor, Amanda and their young daughter, Lilia, serve in Lamarão, Brazil. They were called by God to start a long term missions project that will EMBRACE impoverished teens and their families, PROCLAIM Jesus Christ as Savior and EMPOWER them as disciples of Christ and contributing members to society. They EMBRACE these young people through meeting basic needs (food, clothing, recreational activities, etc.), they PROCLAIM by establishing relationships as they introduce God’s Word and they EMPOWER by providing much sought after job skills along with methods of carrying the Gospel to their families and fellow employees.
Mission Partners:Names withheld for security reasons
Recently, First Melissa commissioned a family on a long-term missions initiative to take the Good News of Christ to Algerian Muslims in France. The name of this family has been withheld from promotional material due to the sensitive nature of this ministry. This family has assimilated themselves into the French culture and resides in a neighborhood known to have a large population of Algerian Muslims. Algeria is practically closed off to Western Christian evangelical missionaries so the objective of this ministry is to share the Gospel with lost Algerians currently living in France, training them up to be disciples and then encouraging them to return to their native country to deliver the Good News of Jesus Christ to this dark part of the world.
Joshua Project World Ministries
Mission Partners:Andy and Tresha McKnight
Joshua Project World Ministries (International Messengers) ministers to children and families with HIV/AIDS by reaching out to them in many different ways. Through the work of this ministry, advocates are available for the children and families, counseling is provided to help children, families and caretakers make educated decisions, and God’s truth is shared about Jesus Christ, the only One who can alleviate their pain and suffering.
Often times, the Joshua Project is misunderstood. Many people think Joshua Project Ministries only ministers to children dying with HIV/AIDS. Instead, this very special group of children is living with HIV/AIDS! The goal of the ministry is to reach each child with the Gospel of Jesus Christ to assure him of his eternal home. What a message of hope and love this brings to children weighed down with sickness.
