Tyler Normand
Minister to Students
Tyler graduated with a bachelor of science in kinesiology from Mississippi College in 2016. Taking a step back from that career, Tyler dedicated himself to a year-long discipleship program called the Forge in Tyler, TX, where he studied theology, hermeneutics, relationship psychology, and spiritual disciplines, while serving in mission opportunities and traveling all over the U.S. and even to Israel. After experiencing a revival in the Forge, Tyler studied at Dallas Baptist University for his master's degree in discipleship while working as the Director of Student Ministries at First Baptist Church Duncanville. After attending church since he was 5, serving in different church ministries, serving as an intern at two churches in Mississippi, and working at Pine Cove Christian Camps for five summers throughout college, the Lord confirmed Tyler's calling to full-time ministry in early 2020.
Tyler married his wife Kristi shortly after joining the First Melissa staff in November 2020, and they have two children from Kristi's previous marriage - Tristan (9) and Sadie (6). Tyler enjoys cooking, making music, reading, watching good movies, and spending quality time with others.
